Human Rights Management

The 1948 United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights has been an important milestone in the development of the human rights concept. For the greater promotion and implementation of international human rights, it is a basic value of Grape King Bio to respect human rights. We developed a human rights policy for Grape King Bio based on the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights while referencing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Global Compact, as well as human rights and labor-related laws in Taiwan and China. We expect the whole company, suppliers, and business partners adhere to these principles, identifying and preventing human rights risks within the supply chain through annual internal audits and supplier audits. The company’s human rights policy is supervised by the Chairman, General Manager, and Board of Directors of Grape King Bio to ensure its complete implementation.

Grape King Bio is committed to providing a safe working environment where employees are treated with respect and integrity. To comply with regulations of the UN International Labor Organization, we emphasize and promote equal opportunities in the recruitment, screening, hiring, appointment, allocation, performance assessment, or promotion of employees or job applicants. We also do not discriminate or treat employees differently based on personal factors such as race, class, language, ideology, religion, party affiliation, place of birth, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, physical appearance, physical or mental disability or labor representation, etc. The employment of child labor under the legal minimum age of employment is strictly prohibited. To ensure that there is no oversight, all recruited employees must provide proof of their identity to the company for verification, and all recruitment shall be conducted legally in compliance with regulations by competent authorities and local regulations.

    Grape King Bio is committed to protecting employees' human rights, including regulatory requirements, freedom of employment, humane treatment, prohibition of inappropriate discrimination and sexual harassment. Employee grievances are dealt with via a diverse communication system with the establishment of the Workplace Violence Response Team. Relevant training courses are provided on human rights protection in order to prevent the occurrence of discriminatory incidents.

  • 02Ensuring Zero Forced Labor

    Grape King Bio does not force or coerce any unwilling employees to perform labor activities. The Work Rules clearly state that employees' consent must be obtained if overtime work is required, and that overtime pay or compensatory time off will be provided afterward. The company also tracks and reviews the work hour statuses of each department monthly to avoid any forced labor.

  • 03Zero Child Labor

    Grape King Bio is committed to prohibiting the employment of child laborers under the age of 16 and has never employed any child laborers in the past. For employees under the age of 20, the company will ensure their health and safety, both physically and mentally, and prohibit the assignment of hazardous work to them.

  • 04Freedom of Association

    Grape King Bio respects and supports employees' civil liberties for freedom of association and participation in politics. Through departmental elections, five employee representatives are elected, with the guarantee of 1/3 female representatives, to ensure employees' right to collective bargaining, bringing forth a friendly workplace under the labor-management collaboration.

Industry, Government and Academia

The company has maintained long-term industry-academia internship cooperation’s with universities and colleges across Taiwan, assisting young students to cultivate their professional knowledge and developing potential outstanding talents. In 2018, the company began cooperating with the Vocational Training Center of Veterans Affairs Council to help veterans start new career goals and transfer to civilian agencies while also increasing local employment rates. In 2019, the our cooperation with the Taoyuan City Government Office of Employment Services and Vocational Training, started publishing job vacancy information monthly to expand the exposure of employment information, allowing job seekers to receive the information more effectively through diverse recruitment channels.

Internal Recruitment
and Rotation

Grape King Bio’s employee reassignment management policies exist for the company’s organizational needs. The company takes into account employee career developments and allows all employees to exercise their potential to the greatest by finding the right position for everyone. Employees can submit relevant written applications to Human Resources, and those who pass the application examinations will have to go through two stages of interviews, with the General Manager making the final decision before the actual reassignment. We promote personnel reassignments with an open mind and have a strict process to control relevant operations, ensuring the rights and benefits of both the employees and the company.

Since most of the candidates emerging from internal referrals are of a certain quality, we encourage referrals from our employees, applying the fair and consistent recruitment and selection processes to effectively utilize the effect of referrals from our employees.

The company has established complaint and grievance channels including a complaint mailbox, a sexual harassment prevention and control mailbox, labor rights measures, a feedback area for employees employeeopinion@grapeking.com.tw, and a phone number. We provide a variety of channels for reporting and filing complaints to prevent unlawful, unethical, and other violations of governmental laws and regulations. The number of complaints received in 2022 was 1.
