Contribute and build a better future for society

Grape King Bio holds quarterly meetings with its Occupational Safety Committee, with the Chairman of the Board of Directors acting as the chair of the meeting. The company is committed to the vision of "Giving for a Better Society” and has obtained ISO/CNS45001 occupational safety and health system certification to provide our employees with a safe, healthy and perfect working environment and system. We also focus on educational training and promotion, ensuring that all employees understand the importance of disaster prevention, such as measures for environmental pollution, hazards for health, and injury or disease incidents.

Safe and Healthy Work Environment

Operation Environment Inspection

The company identifies risks in the current work environment, develops a sampling strategy, and communicates the inspection results to workers and other stakeholders to inform them about the hazards and risks to which they are exposed to. In 2019, we established the Dangerous Equipment Map and Markings at the Grape King Biotech Research Institute, striving to improve and optimize a comfortable working environment for the workers.

Occupational Safety Education and Training

Grape King Bio regularly tracks and implements occupational safety and health on-the-job training to ensure that on-the-job training hours for operators, operation supervisors, and contractors comply with the regulations. The company also actively participates in external occupational safety and health related training. In addition to providing various occupational safety training courses and emergency response drills, we also conducted 90 hours of training on ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 to ensure that the occupational health and safety of our employees are thoroughly implemented through a well-designed education and training program.

Operational Safety Management

  • Avoid Forced Labor

The company complies with local government labor laws, international standards, and the Grape King Bio Human Rights Guideline, and does not force or coerce any unwilling employees to perform labor activities. The Work Rules clearly state that employees' consent must be obtained if overtime work is required and that overtime pay or compensatory time off will be provided afterward. The company also tracks and reviews the work hour statuses of each department monthly. To enable employees to report their problems immediately, the company has effective channels for immediate employee communication such as employee suggestion mailboxes and complaint hotlines, avoiding the situation of forced labor.

  • Electricity Safety Management

Following the Operation Standard for Infrared Thermal Imaging Inspection, we have purchased infrared thermal imaging devices and appointed a dedicated person responsible for the regular inspection, recording, and tracking of electrical equipment to ensure the safety of electricity use in our plants.

  • Health Management

For noise, chemical handlers and people who come into contact with products, special operations and food examinations are carried out. At present we have in-house nurses who can provide emergency trauma treatment, which is better than the law stipulates. In each factory area, infirmaries, health management centers and AEDs are set up as emergency equipment. Grape King Bio also regularly trains and retrains "first aid personnel" whom act as first aiders and act as accident injury management in the factory.

Work Safety Joint Inspection Management

Working together with our consultant doctors, in-house nurses, and occupational safety personnel, on-site workplace inspections and surveys for high-risk personnel and departments are conducted, and hazard assessment operations are performed. Related prevention measures are also implemented, including education and training or opinions for engineering improvement measures. In addition to the inspections, the Health and Safety Department regularly gathers employees from relevant departments to participate in on-site occupational safety and health operation activities for observations and discussions about potential hazards, then improve them promptly.

Optimization of Protective Equipment Promotion, Training, and Use

Health and safety protective equipment cabinets are located in key locations and display facility descriptions so that colleagues and contractors can better understand the use of protective equipment, and can quickly obtain them in emergency situations.

Occupational Safety Risk Assessment

Grape King Bio aims to manage risks comprehensively through the implementation of numerous projects and improvements. Starting in 2017, we conduct risk assessments and identify occupational safety concerns, where we design projects to address the top 25% of identified higher-risk projects. To provide a good working environment for our employees and maintain their health, prevent human factor hazards, and avoid repetitive musculoskeletal injuries, we have established the Management Procedures for Human Factor Hazards Prevention to effectively reduce the risk of injuries to our employees.

Based on evaluation results, we will set up management targets for high-risk environmental and occupational safety factors. In 2022 , Grape King Bio has implemented 13 management programs with an estimated total investment of NT$ 900,000  to reduce the possible risk level of environmental safety and health year by year.

We conduct specific projects to address risks that incorporate significant environmental issues as well as occupational safety and health risk management.
