Biotech Research Institute

 

Grape King’s Bioengineering Center was established in 1991 and now operates as a Research and Development center with new materials development and production capabilities. It concentrates on key component development and application of Grape King Bio’s own raw materials. In recent years, the Center has cooperated actively with national academia and research institutions. This collaboration focused on material development, functional verification and process improvement to build up the core technology. Grape King Bio has been granted nine DoIT (Department of Industrial Technology, Ministry of Economic affairs) and IDB-supported (Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs) scientific projects and over 20 joint academia-industry research projects from NSC (National Science Council), Council of Agriculture and Ministry of Education. We now have 4 patents in Canada, 11 patents in the United States, 14 patents in Japan, 19 patents in China, one patent in South Korea, 4 patents in Singapore, 2 patents in Malaysia, one patent in Vietnam and 88 patents in Taiwan for Antrodia cinnamomea, Antrodia salmonea, Lactic acid bacteria , Antibiotics, Hericium erinaceus , Lepista nuda and Cordyceps cicadae.

Our Biotech Research Institute presently holds a fermentation production capacity of 386 tons, which is the largest in Taiwan. This is made up of six 1 ton, a 2 ton, a 3 ton, five 5 ton, a 10 ton, four 20 ton, four 40 ton and a 50 ton. Including pilot fermenters, there are a total of 50 fermentors making up a total fermentation production capacity of 386 tons, the largest in Taiwan. In 2015 the construction of our second fermentation facility was started at Longtan branch of Hsinchu Science Park and is expected to be completed in 2018. Downstream manufacturing facilities include membrane concentration systems, freeze-dryers, centrifuges, cold fluid bed dryers and pressure filters to provide Grape King Bio, Pro-Partner Ltd. and Shanghai Grape King with ingredients for functional foods. Our most distinguished functional food product since 1997 is Ganoderma King which was introduced at NT$ 10 per capsule and overtook the market of Ganoderma. In 1999, we produced the world’s first Antrodia cinnamomea mycelium and launched “Antrodia King” which rapidly gained popularity. The Bioengineering Center prides itself as having the largest and best Antrodia production facility in Taiwan. In 2015 Grape King Bio became the world’s first company to mass produce Erinacine A, targeting the growing neurodegenerative disease market. Our eye care product Cordyceps cicadae mycelia and Erinacine A and Lignosus rhinocerus are now being sold in America and Japan and Malaysian respectively.

Material Development

 

Lactic acid bacteria, Antrodia cinnamomea, 995 Nutrition Aqua, Ganoderma lucidum, and Hirsutella sinensis are Grape King Bio’s main raw materials. Other fermented mushroom mycelium include Cordyceps sinensis, Agaricus blazei, Phellinus linteus, Inonotus obliquus, Antrodia salmonea, Armillaria mellea, Coriolus versicolor, Grifola frondosa, and Hericium erinaceus. Presently, bio products and health supplements dominate Grape King Bio’s turnover by more than 90%.

 

From these materials, we currently have eight TFDA certified health food products such as “LGG PROBIOTICS”, “Ganoderma King”, “Antrodia King”, “Proteck Stomaker”, “Ling Zhi Antiallergy“ , "Gold Comebest Energy Drink" , "Gold Comebest Energy Drink ( Liver Protection Certification) " and "Sliim Probiotics King EX". In addition, “Antrodia King”, “Antrodia Aqua”, “Proteck Stomaker”, and “Premium Ganoderma King” have all been awarded with National Biotechnology and Medical Care Quality Awards. In the first half of 2019 , the patent for Probiotic was awarded 5 Gold medals and 5 Special awards at 18th Malaysia Technology Expo, Geneva International Invention Exhibition , Malaysia ITEX , World Genius Convention & Education Expo and Russian Archimedes International Invention Exhibition . The patent for Hericium erinaceus was also awarded with 3 Gold Medals and 1 Special Award at Geneva International Invention Exhibition , World Genius Convention & Education Expo and Russian Archimedes International Invention Exhibition . Since 2015 to the first half of 2022, Grape King Bio has won 152 Gold medals, 23 Silver medals, 16 Bronze medals and 64 Special awards, in total 255 local and International Awards.

We also develop health and beauty products that contain Cordyceps cicadae mycelium which can protect the kidneys and eye care, Probiotics to improve allergy, Osteoporosis and weight management, Hericum erinaceus mycelium to stimulate NGF (nerve growth factor), Lignosus rhinoceros to treat asthma, Lepista nuda mycelium to reduce the pearance of wrinkles and have effects on UV-induced damage in skin cells, and Ectoine-producing marine bacterium.
